The next submission deadline for the MbZ Species Conservation Fund is approaching: 31 Oct 2024. The funding has been increased so that more projects can be funded. We are keen to fund conservation projects for soil biota (special focus), but any project on invertebrate conservation is welcome. The focus of the fund is on conservation action. So, if you know the major threat to a species, please make sure that you try to mitigate that threat. https://www.speciesconservation.org/

Proud to have received the Harry Messel Award for Conservation Leadership. This Award is also the result of the work of all my friends, partners and colleagues in Invertebrate Conservation.

Urban parks are havens for #wildlife among our urban heat islands. As cities grow, #greenspaces take on a growing role in #wellbeing and our perceptions of #Nature

Many people use #AI to illustrate their slides #ICE24 with sometimes mixed and hilarious results (Is that a "trinocular"? To look at bees?).

Meanwhile the children's #EntomoArt was amazingly beautiful and realistic! My point - let's get more young people involved in science and conservation by helping us illustrate our slides 👍

I co-hosted the Protect Species Podcast with Dr. @AxelHochkirch, discussing grasshoppers and the tremendous importance of tiny creatures.

Grasshoppers Great & Small

Grasshoppers may be tiny, but they are tremendously important creatures that can have a big impact on the world around them. We're joined by Dr. Axel Hochkirch, a grasshopper expert, to learn more about invertebrates.
