Elon Musk claims he’s a “free speech absolutist,” but is now using his attorneys to try to silence and threaten a non profit that tracks hate speech and violent extremism https://www.nytimes.com/2023/07/31/technology/twitter-x-center-for-countering-digital-hate.html #twitter #elonmusk #twittermigration #tech #technology #technews #news #x
Twitter Threatens to Sue Center for Countering Digital Hate Over Research

The Center for Countering Digital Hate said it had received a letter from X, Twitter’s parent company, accusing it of trying to hurt the social platform with its research.

@taylorlorenz "everybody has the right to my opinion."
@taylorlorenz He learned civil liberties in his daddy’s diamond mine
@taylorlorenz it definitely surprised me how many people you have to ban and keywords you have to suppress to be a free speech absolutionist. Seems like much more work than I would have assumed.
@taylorlorenz Could it be because he's a whiny-baby hypocrite liar?
@taylorlorenz "Fascists don't have positions. They have tactics."
@taylorlorenz and his #Tesla cars totally dont lie about their range on purpose

Why are we even surprised at this point, this man is a husk of hollow promises.

Attached: 1 image @[email protected] @[email protected] This is one of the dumbest articles I've seen in a long time about #Tesla :Þ First off, the algo in red is what they're describing. And that's a GOOD thing. Second, all manufacturers choose whichever of the two EPA methods gives them the longer range. Third, cancelling service appointments when nothing is broken is a GOOD thing. Fourth, even the subject of their article ultimately agreed that nothing was wrong with his car & service would have been pointless.

@DumpedTrauma @taylorlorenz It's driven me to lyrical composition. Well driven me half way, I had to walk the rest.

Ohm, ohm on the range
Where algorithm fiddles a bit
Show Elon a car
That can't go very far
And he'll email you back with a 💩

@taylorlorenz
Just as Gov DeSlavery claims to be a constitutional conservative (smaller govt, personal freedoms, etc) ..

THEY ARE BOTH AUTOCRATS WHO HATE BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE BY 'us simple folk'

@taylorlorenz his favorite facial hair style..
@taylorlorenz let’s hope it goes forward, the discovery process in terms of internal twitter/x docs would be incredible. He really didn’t think this one through.
@taylorlorenz and that's on par with all other "free-speech absolutists", past, present and future.
@taylorlorenz Apparently he really meant "abolitionist". 🙄
@taylorlorenz surprised he has any attourney to begin with, i thought he wouldve fired them by now
@taylorlorenz He meant absolutist in the Absolut vodka sense.
@taylorlorenz I mean, we all know what “free speech absolutist” is code for, right?
@taylorlorenz yes, but for right wingers that only means that they are free speech absolutists for their own speech and speech of those who pay them. Nobody else.
@taylorlorenz turns out that he's actually a free speech "abolitionist".
@taylorlorenz what Elmu means by "I'm a free speech absolutist" is "I should be allowed to say anything I want to and nobody gets to say anything against me."
@taylorlorenz He has suspended @JohnDeanDeasel3 from twtr bc he was merely documenting Elmo's hate tweets. Just keeping track. *Free speech for me but not for thee*, I guess...🙄
@taylorlorenz Elon Musk lies, about almost everything...you can track his lies here https://elonmusk.today/
Elon Musk Today

@taylorlorenz

They'll have a Heyday at Twitter!

Jamie

@taylorlorenz The ultra rich are serial liars that’s how they became rich
@taylorlorenz hahah he seems to have given up on the free speech thing within the first week of him owning twitter
@taylorlorenz he is a narcissistic sociopath

@taylorlorenz But of course Elon is suing the Center for Countering Digital Hate . . .

So Trump-like, that Elon mega-Musk

@taylorlorenz According to the piece of news, Mush is suing because of "a series of troubling and *baseless claims* that appear calculated to harm Twitter generally" (emphasis mine).

Assuming the case has merit and the claims are actually baseless, then Musk is doing the right thing in my books. However, if Musk is just saying this to scare critics away with potentially expensive court case, that's obviously very bad.
