Good morning.

My friend got overzealous about me learning the electric guitar and bought me a digital tuner you can clip on the guitar. There are few instructions. Idk how to use it.😑
I still tune by ear using YouTube videos. Remarkably, it's not out of tune often. (Beginner guitar.)

I think I have to retrain my brain bc I started learning left handed guitar. Idk why, I mirrored the instructors in the YouTube videos. (I'm right hand dominant and slightly ambidextrous.)

I was doing decently on left handed guitar because my right hand had something to *do*.

Maybe that's why right handed guitar feels weird. All the right hand does is strum and the left hand does all the work. It's not worth looking into a left handed guitar.

Idk I'll get it eventually guess.

@jtphillipsmnr only true if you limit yourself to strumming.
Try fingerpicking - it occupies both hands equally
@Badscrew I will, thanks. Funny, that was in the next lesson. =P
@jtphillipsmnr digital tuners are GREAT! ... If you know the names of the notes you want each string to be. Going by ear is probably better in the long run anyway, since it helps you practice matching a given pitch on your instrument, which is super helpful for doing stuff in groups!
@jtphillipsmnr
Pretty sure you just clip it on to the headstock, turn it on, pluck the string and turn the knob until the arrows stop showing up and it just says a letter. I think it works by being sensitive to the vibrations. Never used one like that personally though. Kinda magic.

@polyfire it was showing a number in mhz. And then it showed a letter sometimes. It is weird. Takes AAA batteries.

I think I got impatient with it and gave up. I'll figure it out eventually.

@jtphillipsmnr I am left handed but am somewhat ambidextrous. I grew up in a time when left handedness was considered a birth defect. So I was taught to do everything right handed including playing the guitar. Which I honestly am not very good at yet after years. I always wondered if I would have progressed any better if I had learned from the beginning as a left hander.
@blind5sparrow idk! Is it too late to try again with a left handed guitar?
Its interesting...
@jtphillipsmnr I probably would not invest in a good left-handed guitar now. But if I had the opportunity, I might give it a try.
@jtphillipsmnr my wife is left handed and I’m a righty, teaching her chord shape is LEAGUES easier than teaching right handlers. It’s easier for both of us since, like you said, it’s like looking in a mirror. I wish YouTube had a flip video button so I could cash in on that advantage sometimes too!

@Stee interesting! I wish! Yeah you dont have to sit next to eachother and accidentally bump guitars every 10 seconds... useful!

I think you have to pay for apps like that. Eeh...
