—GOP

GOP fights culture wars because they don't have principles to run on.

Then there's stuff like this where they plan to stop ALL environmental action if the GOP is president in 2025. Despite the fact the water off of Florida is literally a hot tub.
‘Project 2025’: plan to dismantle US climate policy for next Republican president

Rightwing groups penned a conservative wish list of proposals for the next conservative president to gut environmental protections

@Kalinnus @QasimRashid literally hotter than a hot tub

@QasimRashid choices between really bad and really, really bad.

Not much social progress is going to happen or become entrenched without a lot of economic progress and reform that makes US law favour something other than the power of wealth above all things.

@johnefrancis @QasimRashid I really wish people who felt like you offered an alternative. Somehow complaining is always easier than organizing and voting.

@sandyclaus @QasimRashid the US system is apparently hopeless - grassroots activity can't do much going up such a steep hill against unrestricted political spending.

Canadian politics has a somewhat less steep hill...somewhat more restricted spending, but still uphill against a concentrated and conservative media. I do organize and vote for the 3rd party here, but it's mostly a lost cause and my efforts are symbolic, until something changes.

@QasimRashid decades ago they had priciples. Then newt Gingrich happened. I think he was the beginning of their end
@C0ppert0p @QasimRashid Barry Goldwater, the John Birchers, Reagan’s appeal to evangelicals, the republican party has flirted with the bat shit crazy wing of American politics for decades

@QasimRashid ok looks like the Republicans have been directly responsible for those last bullet points, while the general background of our economy and world state have accomplished the first four

What’s the reason to desire a second term beyond “we aren’t those guys”?

That argument isn’t enough for me any more. I want to see Democrats doing flagrantly unconstitutional things and seeing what sticks. This isn’t a fucking game.

@jason @QasimRashid well, there’s the fact that the economy is doing well, we’ve had the most progressive legislation, since LBJ, the fact is still fighting to get rid of the student loan debt, but if you want to waive your hands and say ignore what’s happening, now, what reason do you have well, you can do that all day. There’s not a viable solution running. If that means it’s the best of too bad choices for you, then make the best choice.
@QasimRashid
lol- this administration’s Covid solution was basically “we’re pretending it’s not a thing anymore.” Not impressed.
@ReneeWestberry @QasimRashid I guess you missed all of that vaccination and plummeting Covid rates.
@QasimRashid The GOP/Nazi party can be defined as enslavement. That is their mission.
@QasimRashid biden first needs to learn how to stay alive
@QasimRashid plain and simple the GOP has become the new Nazi’s
@QasimRashid we have to keep Drilling This Realty down and out!
