[Scientists Resurrect Worms Frozen in Siberia Permafrost for 46,000 Years](https://www.newsweek.com/scientists-resurrect-worms-frozen-siberia-permafrost-1815850) >After thawing the worms in the lab, the team was able to date the plant material that had been frozen around the worms to between 45,839 and 47,769 years ago. According to Kurzchalia, this makes them the oldest animals to ever be revived in this way.

@adhdeanasl This is literally the plot of *Smila's Sense of Snow*.
@adhdeanasl nobody. fucking. learns. ever.
@adhdeanasl And it went out and had babies. Something like 100 generations of babies...

@adhdeanasl Think of it from The Thing’s perspective

@adhdeanasl if I woke up after 46000 years and was confined to a lab I'd be pissed js

@Bobblegagger @adhdeanasl

If it woke up NOT in a lab I'd be 10% more freaked out.

@CheapPontoon
Well global warming being what it is I think they'll all wake up pretty soon 👊🤙

@adhdeanasl Our species last words will definitely be, “Hey, it worked!”

* An old Jon Stewart joke, iirc.

@adhdeanasl scientists should really watch some movies

I Love how they put a sunny, happy, face on this, concentrating on the benefits of learning how they are able to go dormant upon freezing then revive when it's warm enough. We already have species who do that on a regular basis we can and do study. We do not need these to learn about it. They already know how they do it! They said NOTHING about possible problems or blowback from this to the enviornment, or even climate change!
It's exactly like naming radiation "sunshine units" 🤬

@adhdeanasl @lisamelton have you seen the way things are going, honestly, would this make it much worse? Perhaps The Thing could do its thing on Ted Cruz?
