Park Hill Flats in Sheffield. Up until a few years ago, they were seen as a decaying monstrosity that sat on the hill overlooking the railway station.

Then they were listed (a hugely controversial decision at the time), before being redeveloped (some may say gentrified). Now an achingly fashionable place to live.

@Greyscape Fair point, the flats were built in the early sixties but by the 80s and 90s, they’d become run down and were seen as a problematic area. Then the council cleared the flats out and moved the residents to other parts of the city and sold the complex off to a developer

@NigelNotNeil a story mirrored in London in Balfron. There were always other options- local authorities never set enough money aside for meaningful maintenance
