I started an account at BlueSky because so many other academic #philosophers had signed up, but there is even less activity than here.
I'm especially interested in #GreekPhilosophy but also #philosophyofmind and #metaphysics.
Any others out there?

@TrueSciPhi has a list of philosophy accounts on Bluesky I think. it’s really dire here, but I really don’t want to make an account there.
regrettably, there's not so much #philosophy discussion traffic here, but a lot of residences, see e.g. mastodon lists
https://eyssette.github.io/Mastodon-Philosophy/
https://truesciphi.org/phi_mas.html
else - in my perception - definitely more online discussion activity at
and the APA's general discussion
(of course, topics and/or level of professionality vary widely)
@vcaston Also interested in philosophy of mind but don’t post about it. Would be nice to hear what/who you find out.
It took me a bit to curate a good list but pretty happy here.
A lot of what I was missing initially I learned it was part of an addiction really, it passed with time. You will not find that hit on Mastodon, which opens a lot of space for other interests.
I actually like Mastodon a lot for just the reason you cite, the absence of the dopamine hit from other sites' algorithm.
Just was hoping to see more philosophy discussions.
Interesting. What did they make of it?
BlueSky is what I'd call a "write only" social network. People are posting alright, just not replying as much. I mean in general, not just to me. If others there are like me, they are rarely, if at all, even visiting their home TL (skyline?). So, not quite social yet. #bluesky #social
Do you mean John Palmer's 2009 book? (He wrote the SEP article.) I think it's had a very favorable reception.
If you want something that looks at the poetry and the Greek, I'm still partial to my advisor's book: Alex Mourelatos, The Route of Parmenides. And Matt Evans' book will be great when it comes out.
#GreekPhilosophy #Parmenides #Presocratics #PresocraticPhilosophy
@vcaston Ah, that sounds excellent. "Parmenides and Presocratic Philosophy", OUP?
I kept on hearing references to P. which piqued my interest so I read a little online about him, but want a little more. Usually I reach a dead-end where there's an extensive, unvariagated bibliography though, and I don't have the time or resources to go through them all, but I'd like to read "a book" about him and his ilk. I will order a copy.
That's the one. But maybe read a little online on Amazon or Google to see if it's the right sort of pitch for you.
Yeah I've been disappointed. Overall I've been happiest with Mastodon so far.
I have no formal education in these matters so I cannot claim to be an academic, except perhaps in my modes of thinking and reasoning.
If you're willing to engage with me given as much, I would be delighted 😀
