When those of us who work on CO₂ removal (CDR) meet, it’s apparent that no one wants to do this and no one thinks it’s easy.

It’s far easier and cheaper to stop emitting CO₂.

The fact that some of the smartest people I know decide to work on CDR signals our desperation.

@davidho

So you followed a #vegan lifestyle for many years I guess?

If yes, when you talk about #climatechange as a problem, can you please promote #veganism as an important thing to do and in your bio? Thanks.

Vegans, vegetarians, fish-eaters and meat-eaters in the UK show discrepant environmental impacts - Nature Food

Modelled estimates of the environmental impact of dietary choices often fail to reflect true dietary practice. This study links a dietary dataset from 55,000 UK consumers with food-level data on GHG emissions, land use, water use, eutrophication and biodiversity to compare the environmental burden of different levels of meat consumption.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. Step 1 of avoiding driving off a cliff is deciding to take action. Step 2 is taking your foot off the accelerator.

Converting the whole world to vegan overnight isn't going to happen. What could happen, is asking people to replace some of their beef consumption with anything else, as it is about 3 times as bad as chicken, and IIRC, twice or maybe 50% more harmful than pork.

@chidi_anagonye @davidho

No one is saying the world should turn vegan overnight.

What interests me are the sentient beings of other species and if this story of climate change can reduce those concentration camps that are farms, I will make sure so called climate scientists are the first to follow a plant-based diet, to save at least some more lives.

Every single life counts, this guy has 7K followers and each of them who is not following a plant based diet causes many deaths every year.

@alexl @davidho

I think you would be more effective by keeping your message short and shedding some light on how poorly animals are treated. Link to some research about how these creatures aren't just brainless meat.

@chidi_anagonye @davidho

I have been an activist for many years and I know exactly the limit of that approach. Let me say that using science where only empathy is needed is one of the peaks of the dystopian-level scientism of our times.

Today we are flooded by alarms on climate change, many people are worried about it but vegans are still 3% at best in Western countries.

I will take full advantage of these circumstances to promote a plant-based diet.
