So instead of writing about motorcycle racing, I have spent the past few days writing about my obsessive quest for the perfect motorcycle navigation solution. The BMW Navigator VI is crap, and I can't integrate TomTom with the scroll wheel. So I bought a WunderLINQ, but which nav app to use? Kurviger? Cruiser? OSMAnd? And what exactly are the perfect routing parameters?

The quest for the perfect motorcycle navigation solution | David Emmett

@motomatters good read! Am considering replacing my iphone stuck on a phone holder with something else…
@yuvipanda What I forgot to add was that I am using an Ulefone Armor phone on the QuadLock mount. It's cheap and almost indestructible.
@motomatters I keep seeing people recommending OsmAnd, I am yet to try it for real but definitely one to watch. I think I am going to replace my Garmin Montana with one of these: https://www.thorkracing.com/produto/dmd-t665-nav-phone/, then I will try out a few apps.

@patrick @motomatters Hi David, have a look at Calimoto. Although I really dislike the pricing model, I still think it is one if the best motorcycle navigation solutions.
@patrick I saw that. Seems to be an entire dashboard, rather than just a nav system. Overkill for my needs, but interesting. I think you can also just load the software on any cheap rugged phone
@motomatters Yes, as I understand it, it is basically an android phone. But it does have some features that make it use full for motorcycle use though, water/dust proof, charging pins etc. However, I believe your original question was about the software so this is a bit of a tangent.

@patrick This definitely has a lot of advantages, but wiring in fixed devices is always a bit of a pain, especially with modern CANBus bikes.

The fact this is halfway between a dedicated device and a phone makes it very interesting.

Hi David, I'm using kurviger on a cheap Android phone.
I did some tours in the Vosges and Alps with it and it worked fine.
