Hey everyone,

Wow, what a wild ride, huh? From those first brainstorming sessions that sparked Calckey, to the epic journey that brings us here today, rebranding as Firefish - I've gotta say, I'm seriously blown away.

One year ago, Calckey was just my side project, after being a Misskey contributor for a while. But when y'all jumped on board, you made it so much more. You transformed it from my dream to our reality.

Firefish isn't just a cool name. It's everything we've been working towards. It's late nights, strong coffee, wild ideas, laughs, and even the occasional tears. It's our little space on the web where we're constantly pushing for the next big thing, and always looking out for one another.

So here we are, at the start of something new. Firefish is more than just a rebrand - it's a celebration. A celebration of you, me, and us. It's a tribute to the amazing community we've built together. Firefish is all of YOU.

We put together video that I feel really gets to the heart of Firefish. We wanted to show you guys what this whole journey has meant to us, and how excited we are to be taking this next step together.

Before I go, I just want to say a big, massive, thank you. Thank you to all the patrons who supported this. Thank you to
@blackspike for the absolutely stunning logo. Thank you @angelolz for the beautiful trailer. Thank you to our development team who's made some amazing strides. And thank you all for believing in this wild idea, thank you for your support, and thank you for being part of the coolest community on the web. You guys are the real backbone of all this.

Here's to the next chapter of our journey as Firefish. Exciting times ahead, and I can't wait to see where we go from here!

Posts will shortly follow with release notes, roadmaps, technical details, migration plans. I'll keep this thread updated.

Much love,
Kainoa

@kainoa @blackspike @angelolz @firefish I am very very sorry to say this and I hope it doesn't get your hopes down, but I REALLY don't like the name... Firefish is still a fork of Misskey, and forks of Misskey are usually distinguished by their *key names, as you probably know. Calling Calckey Firefish breaks that, and the trailer features things as if they were Firefish specific that are not. Themeing is also available in all other *key software... I love what you're doing for *key software, but please don't pretend you're not *key software, that looks dirty...
@cody code-wise and vision-wise, we're straying away more and more from Misskey. Also, we'd rather not associate with software made by homophobic developers.
@kainoa Since when are Misskey devs homophobic? What did they do? I'm unaware of this
@cody Syuilo signed off on the ban of LGBTQ discussion on Misskey.io

@kainoa @cody

homophobic developershuh?

@kainoa @cody And sorry to jump in, but the logo should be updated to a "positive" version, if indeed you want to show you're heading into the future.
The logo, as it is now, still looks to the negative past (down-left) and not tomorrow (up-right).
I changed it for you. That's basic design 101.
@cybeardjm @cody Thank you for the offer, but no. We went with a professional design studio, but I appreciate you wanting to give feedback.
@kainoa Oh, you mean you paid for that?
As a marketing/coms veteran, am really laughing...
Keep looking to the past then, it tells a lot of your future story...
@kainoa @cybeardjm @cody Down/left is antifascist as well. Always in favor of down/left arrows.
@cody @kainoa Calckey is so incompatible with other *key software by now that shedding the nyame makes complete sense.
The key nyame has caused more than enough confusion as is, and with Misskey v13, the experience is
very different from mainline.
