Of all the communities I had on Twitter, Infosec Twitter is the group that moved to Mastodon and never looked back.
@evacide as far as voids to scream into go, this particular void is cozier than most.
@evacide yeah, science Twitter is only maybe 1/3 over here.
@alexwild @evacide it's definitely sparse here.
@Dtl @alexwild @evacide also, those that created accounts and started up here seem to have slowed posting here. Retention after signup is an issue.
@pyperkub @Dtl @evacide from my perspective, it seems a bit busier this month than last, though.
@alexwild @Dtl @evacide Do you have any good hashtags to follow for science? the infosec one is great for this community, at least for me.
@alexwild @pyperkub @evacide there seems to be a lot more astronomy this month, less microscopy and anatomy.
Perhaps that's just how the conference seasons are and people were / are talking about what's happening at conferences?
@evacide it took a lot of effort to make that move happen.
@evacide More than anything: smaller groups require less moderation, but also we're all very very smart, of course
@evacide also furries.. Wait...
@petko @evacide The Venn diagram is nearly a circle
@petko @evacide the infofurrysec community?
@evacide Its cozy here and we know too much about business continuity to go back ;)
@evacide That y'all did, this person from a VERY different background always thought, spoke a whole lot. Without saying anything explicit.
@evacide I think with so many communities focused on #infosec, it definitely helped draw infosec professionals over. Plus, a lot of these infosec focused instances have much larger character limits & moderation that imo is pretty friendly towards those in infosec.

We've got instances like infosec.exchange, infosec.town, cyberplace.social, noc.social, hachyderm.io, ioc.exchange, hackers.town and more to thank for hosting the infosec community on the
#fediverse!
@evacide I was really hoping the open source community would follow suit, but that migration has been rather embarrassingly slow.
@evacide i had setup my mastodon account years ago but the big decider in my recent shift was when the infosec folks moved en masse overnight. Nice to see you here πŸ‘‹
@kcarruthers @evacide If either of you have recommendations on additional infosec accounts on Mastodon to follow, pls let me know!
@kcarruthers @evacide Hello! I'm truly enjoying Mastodon. I'm using the "Moshidon" app as my interface, which I also love. The grass is indeed greener!
