I've become so conditioned by social media sites creating an #algorithm for me that my #Mastodon algorithm is barely anything because I haven't been putting the work in.

But it's nice to have that control and to see what I actually want to see.

Now to go find people to follow to make my algorithm amazing!

@Akashana have you tried looking at local feeds of a few instances?
@Sibshops I've really only looked a little bit at my own instance feed. I haven't spent a ton of time yet on Mastodon as it's been a bit overwhelming, but as I use it more I like it more 🙂

@Akashana Also, try searching for hashtags you’re interested in. You can follow an entire hashtag. That can quickly kickstart your Home feed and you’ll undoubtedly start noticing people that consistently have interesting things to say about topics you care about.

That’s what really got the ball rolling for me.

@RyanWelsh Ooh, good tip, thank you! 😀
@Akashana @RyanWelsh following hashtags is Mastodon's best discovery feature, IMO. Definitely worth doing.
@astrovore @RyanWelsh I really like that feature. Much less daunting than I thought it might be.
@Akashana I had the exact same thought joining the website! Took a few days, but I'm at a point where I really enjoy my feed now. Good luck!
