Every day corporation do something worse and worse and they wind up paying less and less in fines

You want fines? Start at 100% of what they gained from their misdeeds

And if corporations are people then punish them like people. Corporate death penalty (judicial dissolution) for the worst offenders

When the punishment for a crime is a fine then the laws only apply to the poor.

@flexghost Yeah, I was thinking the same thing after I read that.
@flexghost absolutely GDR, especially the last sentence. Although I think fines should start a lot higher than 100% of their illegal gains, or there's still no incentive to behave. But 100% would still be a major improvement over today.
@jamesmarshall 100% is the start. Then fine the folks in charge additionally
@flexghost Of course the tax company I went with after TurboTax stealth upsold their software version is guilty of something. There really is no winning when it comes to tax software. Maybe we should do it like the rest of the western world and have a sane tax system that doesn't require losing around $100 a year just to file.
@mustard867 the only reason we have the complex tax system we do is because of companies like TurboTax lobbying
@flexghost rules for thee, but not for me
@flexghost I hate that I can't reply without sounding tinfoil hat, but the excessively rich own controlling interest (or sole interest) in most of those companies. They also seem to own the legislatures (or enough of them). No wonder the needle only moves a little when it moves at all to address corporations breaking laws and harming citizens.
@flexghost
100% plus interest. They shouldn't be able to make money off investing what their ill-gotten gains, else it's just a fancy loan
@flexghost It does seem as if laws only apply to the poor…
@flexghost Fines should be based on a percentage of gross revenue. The bigger the company, the more they will pay. 10% of Facebook’s gross revenue would be $3.3 BILLION. Now we’re talking.

@flexghost

There's no such thing as a fine for parking in the wrong spot, it's a cost of doing business. Oh course, that's facetious coming from me, but not coming from rich people.

@atatassault if only antifa had actual AT ATs

@flexghost

Are you suggesting we steal some weapons of war from our fascist oppressors IRL? Cause that's based.

@atatassault the only time I’ve ever suggested that is always.
@flexghost C-level execs need to start being put behind bars.
@flexghost Executives need to be criminally liable, as corporate fines don’t even impact them. Locking up a few criminal CEOs, board members, etc.—or even forcing them out without compensation—would soon change their behavior.
@flexghost
Percentage of gross profits and no tax deduction.
@flexghost the concept of 'paying their debt to society' should apply.
@flexghost Arrest the whole Board of Directors and hold them without bail as flight risks.
Charge them 10% of their company Stock holdings.
And if their actions are illegal keep them in prison for a few years.
