The US Is Openly Stockpiling Dirt on All Its Citizens

@couts @dell It's not the "amassing" that's the problem. It's how that data is then used that's the issue. It's a "who watches the watchers" question.

@couts

While Trump and his ilk have everyone's attention with their bloviating and flatulating, this is going on?! And, they're buying it! With our taxes!!

I'll believe corporations are people when Texas executes one and that my "sensitive and intimate information" is publicly available when I can buy it back on Amazon.

@couts @dell you mean to tell me that the group we learned spies on us in 2013 is still spying on us today?

@couts @dell If "Congress and the Supreme Court have made clear the government should not have" certain information about us, it's not ok that companies can legally collect & sell that info. To anyone. Including governments.
@couts @dell this is one of those scenarios where the public is going to have to see the actual risks we're undertaking play out. Not enough people gonna move to private services until we see a real injustice occur.

This is not NEW and not limited to the US. The intelligence community exists in every country. You're more likely to hear about it in the US. It is a mistake to believe that because you live in a certain country or region you have immunity from surveillance and data collection. It is an individual's responsibility to protect themselves.
