NEW 5-Minute Whiteboard:
How do you create a great marketing strategy?

Now live on the @SparkToro blog.

And because you're seeing this on Mastodon, the best social network, I don't have to hide the link (https://sparktoro.com/blog/how-do-you-create-a-great-marketing-strategy-5-minute-whiteboard/) to avoid the algo feed slapping this into oblivion. Huzzah!

How Do You Create a Great Marketing Strategy? | 5-Minute Whiteboard - SparkToro

This week, I'm going back to basics. Not because you need a refresher course, but because so many of us are frustrated in the weeds of marketing precisely

SparkToro

@randfish @SparkToro I always thought: The idea that the birdsite down-prioritizes posts that contain links, is it possible that this was a myth?

What happens when a post contains a link? People most likely click on the link instead of the like button, right?

The low amount of likes makes us think that the social network's algo down-prioritized the post.

Am I missing anything here?

@admin Little busy today, so won't go into it, but yes, we have lots of evidence (and Elon's "leak" of the algo) proving that they intentionally devalue posts with links in the feed (as does LinkedIn, Threads, Reddit r/popular, etc.) @SparkToro
@randfish @admin Apologies for being a few days late here, Matthias. This thread about Twitter's algorithm should be helpful: https://twitter.com/aakashg0/status/1641976906982498310?s=20

@SparkToro @randfish Ah, thank you, Rand, this is indeed very helpful.

The code shows me that if my reputation as a "good tweep" is high enough, links don't hurt.

If it's not high enough, it helps to add an image to avoid the link penalty.

@randfish @SparkToro always insightful, and really well broken down. Thanks Rand
@rebornmedia Thanks Ally! Excited to make more of these 🥰 @SparkToro
