How bad is Twitter? Folks are following me elsewhere just to find stuff to still attack me for.
I would hope that Mastodon moderators would be looking to prevent this kind of stalking.
Also, reading comprehension is hard I guess. We're still masking indoors and discussing whether there are any limited circumstances in which we won't ask our kids to this summer. 🤷‍♂️
Here's another one. Also not actually reading what I said, but choosing to rage farm and keep the pile on going. What I write was that seeing another kid or adult masking would be a good enough reason to mask up in case they're or have a loved one who is. I've said previously that we needn't ask why someone else is masking. Knowing my kids, they would probably want to mask just in solidarity with a lone masker.

The issue is which approach is going to get us to safer spaces in practice.

Demanding that everyone mask. (I have no doubt that approximately none of the other kids will be).

Or

Helping families make the best decisions they can, including masking up if someone else there is.

@TRyanGregory I'm sure you've met @augieray who posts interesting information along similar lines to yourself.
As I said, reading comprehension is hard.
@TRyanGregory
Wow, 450ppm CO₂ is amazing, where is this? I'd drive a good distance for that
@sabik Relatively new community sports complex. I gather pools generally have to have good ventilation.
@TRyanGregory Please add alt text to your images - they'll get more people boosting them and it's friendly to the visually impaired users!
@TRyanGregory depends upon the rules of the instance you’re on and the time the moderators have
@TRyanGregory this is why I signed up for Fediscience.org. They require that you prove you’ve published research and you’re vetted first
@Gmboyd That person is probably not on a science server.
@TRyanGregory Definitely depends on your instance's mods

@TRyanGregory

Know your moderators on your instance. Offer to become one if they need help.

@TRyanGregory you’d need to report the post(s) probably

@TRyanGregory

Does this fella even have a mastodon account on any instance?

Your profile is publicly viewable at https://mstdn.science/@TRyanGregory so it’s not like moderators can do much about stalkers from Twitter screenshotting your public mastodon posts and tweeting out their misinterpretations.

@TRyanGregory is that the comment screen grabbed and posted on twitter. I'm so sick of everyone having a negative opinion. Why dont they comment on the PHOs that are allowing covid to go unchecked instead of commenting on your decisions for your family. Wow, time for me to figure out how to make mastodon work for me.
@CaraBrown Yes. They're now following me here and screenshotting so they can continue rage farming on Twitter.
@TRyanGregory @CaraBrown Honestly, that's really poor form.
Hell, I weigh up risks and don't mask in every circumstance outdoors. I'm so sorry your being hung out to dry

@TRyanGregory @CaraBrown

If you think they are ‘following’ you in a technical sense, look through your followers and see if you can find the account in question. Not much anyone can do without knowing the account…

My guess is that they may not be ‘following’ you here, as they could just as well browse your profile without following, or look at your public profile on the web.

@anti_disease @CaraBrown I'm not going to spend any more time. They're clearly looking to keep their rage farming active.

@TRyanGregory

This is how I see it.

@anti_disease I can't even understand what they're talking about now. The rage farming has created a wild narrative that is easily contradicted by facts. I haven't deleted any tweets. Even the ones they screen cap don't say what they say I said.
@TRyanGregory I certainly agree that you’ve been honest about who you are. I put it this way in a comment
@TRyanGregory Some more of what I think. The smearing of you is unfair, and less importantly, blatantly harmful.
@anti_disease One thing that is for sure harmful is that they are proving the minimizer caricature of COVID aware folks to be correct (at least in a few vocal examples), which makes it harder for all of us as lone maskers.
@anti_disease I appreciate you sticking up for me. I don't know that anything can reach them at this point. They're very angry and have chosen to direct it toward me.

@TRyanGregory

I think people see your followers count, and forget everything about how you’re mostly just a guy with a microscope, studying biological samples, or whatever sciencey stuff you might be up to. Your Twitter D-celebrity status is because you posted informative and entertaining stuff.

For fairness, SocialBlade rates your influence weight as B- across all Twitter accounts. And you said things as controversial as that getting sick is bad…

@anti_disease Yeah, I dunno. I did things the same way all along and still thought of mine as a fairly small account. I wasn't building a brand, there's zero monetizing involved, just time invested because I hoped it would be useful to some other people. Some seem to think they're doing you a favour by following and that you owe them as a result.

@TRyanGregory

I’ll say this also. I’m glad that you notice that I try to ‘stick up’ for you, as I think anyone who values your past efforts and sees that you are unfairly attacked should do so.
