@monorailtimes @pschiller Web apps would be a lot more robust for sure! All kinds of web technologies would have been rapidly prioritized.
Kind of like how because the iPhone didn’t support Flash, everybody rushed to replace it on their sites.
@pschiller Thanks for making me feel OLD.
Surely it was less... Maybe Ten? ;)
*looks at notes*. Oh. It was that long :/
@pschiller Happy Birthday App Store! 🎈 🎈 🎉

@pschiller It was a career highlight to see our app banner on day one. I can’t express the excitement we all felt, but it’s still memorable after all these years.
How many hands of poker have you played since then?
@BasicAppleGuy @pschiller I’ll bet $5 it was Texas Hold’em:
Texas Hold'em are mobile games that were developed by Apple to adapt the card game of the same name to be played on various iPod, iOS, and iPadOS devices. The first mobile version of Texas Hold'em from Apple Computer was originally released through the iTunes Store on September 12, 2006 for the 5th-generation iPod, 3rd-generation iPod nano, and later Click Wheel-based iPod models. It was discontinued by the end of September 2011 as the iPod classic was the last remaining Click Wheel-based model.
@gruber @BasicAppleGuy @pschiller Some Stephen Robles is saying Phil made also Threads account: https://www.threads.net/@philipschiller007
Is that so?

Here’s the first few apps I got on that day. Amazing memories scrolling through this list.
@pschiller Good times ...
On Day One, I had four apps in the App Store: three contracted by Astrology.com (long story), and my own trigonometry visualization aide, Trigger (a version of which was later one of the first apps for Apple Watch).
I had a game in the works but suffered a catastrophe before completion; had I finished it, and had it been accepted in time, I would've had 1% of the App Store to myself!
(Maintaining that status over the years would've been an interesting challenge ...)
What a ride! Thanks to everyone who made it possible.
