But the same applies to Mastodon.
Because on Mastodon there are also placeholder accounts from Twitter accounts that actually don't use Mastodon at all.
And while I understand that Threads is doing it because it is just an additional App for the Instagramaccount people are already created, I don‘t think Mastodon should do that because Mastodon and Twitter are 2 very different apps and are not connected.
So you mean these accounts were made up by a real person and not created by Mastodon?
Well, then Mastodon should take actions against those accounts because it is absolutely annoying when someone comes from Twitter and find its own Twitteraccounts being copied.
@morphany @SNerd @Some_Emo_Chick Those are probably from Bridges, there is no chance they’ll ever do anything but relay what happens on the birdsite, if you visit their address you find that they are not running mastodon at all and probably get a more detailed explanation of what they are doing.
What Facebook is doing is a shared account base and they are probably making it not very easy to distinguish accounts that have signed up from those that have not. They could just have built this into Instagram and done. The only reason this is a separate app is marketing.
