Brendan Jones@bethsawin this does not in any way address the systemic implications of or solutions to that problem, but some happy news from this week that at least is a move in the right direction: the Dutch government won a court case that’ll now allow them to reduce the number of flights at Schiphol Airport.

@mcv @bethsawin quite frustrating that the reason is noise reduction and not, y’know, drastically reducing emissions so that we don’t make an unliveable Earth. Happy for the residents nonetheless, of course.

The US & Canadian auto industries have been too closely integrated, including their massive PR campaigns, for their customers to think differently.
Liz "Not A Convicted Felon" D.The rise of private planes as there is little regulation. Can take off and land any time day or night. Doesn't have the same emissions standards so the cheapest dirtest fuel is used. Lower maintenance requirements. And lower training standards for pilots.
Private airports are at or near capacity.
