Reminder about what happens when you take national security documents that don’t belong to you.
Reality Winner took a single document.

@Tbsa I don't think it's fair to compare the president to a random person in any of the departments of the government.

The president is literally surrounded daily by and interacts with thousands of sensitive documents. It's a level of constant exposure that I think makes it nearly impossible to be 100% perfect at keeping them all where they should be.

Given that I don't think the process of asking for documents erroneously taken away is bad; but trump ignored those requests. That's the problem

@Landrin201 trump purposely took documents and then refused to return them after repeated attempts to retrieve them. He has zero right to them. Ifgaf who you are, if you take documents and seek to damage the country. You should be subject to the full extent of the law.
Reality Winner was a whistleblower, glaring example of two tiered system.

@Tbsa yeah I agree he has no right to them.

But I thi k there is a fundamental difference between a president and some random that should afford them a bit more procedural options for returning documents they may have ended up with.

The minute trump refused to cooperate and made it clear he took the documents deliberately, and not accidentally, he was well beyond where he should be given leniency.

@Landrin201 When you are asked to return them, and fail to do so, that is the moment you cross the rubicon. Trump is wholly untrustworthy. He was a known sexual predator before he ever spent one day in office. It never ceases to amaze me how low the bar is for white cis males.
