@hagedose68 @GWillow IMO--It's Tik-Tok that you read. You can follow whoever you want, but your timeline is algorithmically sorted based on what's popular and what meta thinks you will like. This is intentional, it keeps you checking back in to see what's going on. It's a FOMO machine.

I read a nice article somewhere which compared Threads not to ‘the town square’ but to a soulless shopping mall with hollow attractions and ersatz engagements whilst the data pickpocket quietly robs you.

If only we were still EU, this wouldn’t be a question …

@GWillow I was curious so I scrolled for about 10 minutes over there and all I saw were influencers and low level memes. During that time 35 companies tried to track me 685 times. They can keep it.

@GWillow Part of the problem is the default settings. Setting "Account Suggestions" to Off and "First Threads" to Off cleaned up a lot (though not all) of the noise in my timeline. Still needs the chronological feed and working text/topics search, and Lists before it becomes a daily visit for me.
