Looks like my prohibition on buying Amy’s mac & cheese and microwave burritos is extended indefinitely. 😫 WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GROW UP TO BE A SOULLESS CAPITALIST FUCKHEAD, AMY??

@otownKim @Radical_EgoCom I was SO disappointed when I first heard about the labor complaints a while back. Amy’s was my favorite frozen food. 😭

@mivox @[email protected] This closure happened about a year ago. The workers were largely immigrant women who started organizing bc of ongoing harassment & discrimination at Amy's. The factory had opened in 2021 and enlisted many community orgs to help it recruit workers, with promises of good career opportunities for our communities who had been hard hit by COVID- related unemployment. I personally helped some ppl get jobs there 🙁.

@lauerhahn I (along with quite a few other people, it seems) didn’t hear the closure happened at the time. Although I had already heard about the working conditions complaints, so I don’t suppose I should be surprised by this. 😕

@mivox I boycotted their food ages ago cause it is crazy full of sodium. Nothing healthy about it. Another reason.

@Invincible_Fall All prepared foods seem to be either full of sodium or bereft of flavor. 🤷🏻 Nobody should be eating anything out of the heat-and-eat freezer section thinking it’s healthy.

@owlislost @Radical_EgoCom I’d heard about labor complaints a couple years ago, which is why I stopped buying their stuff in the first place, but this is the first I’d heard of them just closing the whole facility. 😞

@mivox @Radical_EgoCom They started adding massive amounts of every kind of soy in 2019, including high olec hydrogenated soybean oil. It’s taken me until this year to unclog my liver from it, and it’s caused me to develop a soy allergy. I now can’t eat any form of soy or my digestion shuts down.
