What a sad and dark day.

These beautiful souls are Hughes Van Ellis, 102, Lessie Benningfield Randle, 108, and Viola Fletcher, who just turned 109. They are the oldest living survivors of the Tulsa Race Massacre. They have received $0 reparations.

They sued for justice. Sadly, Tulsa County District Judge Caroline Wall just granted the City of Tulsa’s motion to dismiss the case with prejudice, meaning the case can’t be refiled.

Reparations Now.

Justice denied: Judge dismisses Tulsa Race Massacre lawsuit

Tulsa County District Judge Caroline Wall has dismissed the lawsuit seeking justice for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

The Black Wall Street Times
@QasimRashid The article notes the plaintiffs' descendants weren't included in the suit. Was this done in the hope the case would have a better chance of coming to trial?
@QasimRashid If there is a hell, that judge has a special place and all the other Okies who support this ruling.
@QasimRashid This state is so messed up. *sigh* DO BETTER, #TULSA #OKLAHOMA.
@QasimRashid we are actively sliding back to 1950s level racism with a 1930s level economy. Reperations are a nice ideal, but not only will they never happen in our lifetime, they won't be a winning campaign message any time soon either.
@Beeks @QasimRashid luckily those of us not campaigning can focus on convincing others of these ideals.
@QasimRashid some history is deliberately buried as it is uncomfortable to deal with the truth.
@QasimRashid what disgusting systematic abuse by the supposed US Justice system that has been perpetrated on these persistent Seniors !
@QasimRashid the irony of those words is not lost on us.
@QasimRashid that Judge epitomises the power of White Trash
@QasimRashid Thank you for sharing.
@QasimRashid
‘With prejudice’, well how ‘bout that.
All I can say is "Bruh"
@QasimRashid Siri, how do you say those officials are the descendants of the people who committed the massacre without saying they’re the descendants of the people who committed the massacre?

Here is some more information about the #TulsaRaceMassacre for everyone who was unfamiliar with it up until now.

@QasimRashid This is shameful, still and all over again. We can do and be better in this country! We must!
@QasimRashid dismissed with [white] prejudice...

@QasimRashid

Utterly disgusted.

Can a judge prevent an appeal?

@QasimRashid utterly disgusting treatment by still in power white supremacy
@QasimRashid Had to give this a thumbs down because of the judge. Look up the word prejudice in the dictionary and this judge should be pictured.
@QasimRashid Why did they use the term reparations rather than damages, including punitive damages? It’s well documented that Oklahoma government actors were involved, e.g. the National Guard. Wouldn’t the state be liable for the damages caused by their actors? Additionally, if their actors were there the state had an obligation to protect even if the federal government did not and could not. These people deserve damages for their loss and suffering.

@QasimRashid

I hope their stories, in their voices will be told. Let it never be forgotten; this, at the last, that comforting forgetfulness is never allowed to flourish.
