I see many of us have landed upon the very best healthiest social media user experience possible: all of us existing simultaneously on six or seven different platforms, waving our hands in the dark hoping to find each other again, and quivering with FOMO like a bunch of shaved chihuahuas.

@JuliusGoat honestly, I'm here and I'm pretty happy. Most of my friends are here. A lot of the larger accounts I used to follow (like yours) are here.
@JuliusGoat I haven't...I ditched FB years ago, never used Insta or TikTok...I jumped off Twitter and landed here, and I'm half way to dumping reddit. I'll never pickup BS or threads or whatever bullshit billionaires want to sell me tomorrow.

If you're thinking about leaving Reddit, have you given Lemmy a try?
@JuliusGoat not me, I just got banned from Reddit. I never fucked with Facebook or Twitter to begin with. I really like the vibe here so much dissent and a lot of academics.
@JuliusGoat This is beautifully written. I am here to learn English tbh. I think I am in the right platform
@JuliusGoat You say that like it's a bad thing.
@JuliusGoat I think I must be the last person in the world not to experience FOMO. Is that good/bad or just show my apathy for 90% of the internet?
@appagalcrochet Oh man, you've never experienced FOMO? You'd better hurry up and experience it before it's all gone.
@JuliusGoat Meh, sounds like a waste of energy. I see it as enticing as watching a dog take a 💩. (Goes back to recording crochet video.)

@JuliusGoat

Eh.

Call me a weirdo, but I've always felt the strength of social media like Mastodon wasn't the ability to keep up with select folks you're already familiar with, but the ability to explore brand new horizons of strange and colorful people you may have never encountered otherwise.

I know all of maybe 5-6 folks I follow/am followed by on here IRL (or from elsewhere online.) Pretty much everyone else is "hey, they look neato mosquito, I'ma check 'em out," and that's just awesome.

@JuliusGoat I have accounts on all of them, but post my cat pictures here, which definitively makes it "home".
