Hey Nerds and Geeks of the Fediverse:

I'm bailing on Evernote. I have an Obsidian license, but it's got a bit of a learning curve.

Where do you store your notes/clipped recipes/random shit/brain? Leave comments if you have other things, or particular reasons?

@justanna My notes are in unsaved Notepad++ files... which I only ever save if I ever need to reinstall Windows or access it on Linux.

Yes, I know, it is heresy and the worst system ever. I keep meaning to actually learn Obsidian but other things keep getting priority...

@rakuno @justanna You should really slap a content warning on this, because OMG. Horrifying!

Edit: It's the word unsaved that turns this from quirky to psychotic.

@Krikket @justanna My bad. I will try to remember it in the future as to not accidentally cause trauma to others!

EDIT: Well, Notepad++ keep the notes as long as I don't close the tabs... And if I save and close the tab I WILL forget the notes. You have no idea how often I find a random text file on my HD I completely forgot about...

EDIT 2: I should also add that those for notes I don't really care about keeping around. If I *really* need to keep them around then I will save.

@rakuno @Krikket @justanna I’m up to about 250 unsaved tabs in notepad++ on my work computer. What are you at?

@bearmine @Krikket @justanna I am not alone!

Right now I am at about 3. Best I ever got were about 11. I know, it doesn't even compare.

Now, if we were talking about opened tabs... I'd rather not share. That is a really embarrassing number.

And yes, I know of bookmarks. I even use them. Some times. πŸ˜†

@rakuno @Krikket @justanna I tend to open up notepad++ tabs for scratch sheets while coding. So it’s a smattering of code snippets or temp Python scripts mostly. Sometimes data like csv or json dumps.

Edit: oh and I never close tabs. πŸ‘€ so they just build up over the months.
