@asthargf Wow, YES!

I've often mentioned that the problem is that many people are "proudly ignorant", but that didn't explain WHY.

"Bigotry is an emotional attachment to ignorance" describes the problem and why.

@asthargf I'm constantly composing responses to bigots in my mind. My thoughts center around their deliberate choice to be ignorant, which makes them stupid. I honestly think that most of them don't know that they have the ability to learn. They proudly proclaim how they "were brought up" as if that's should be the end all and be all of their entire life span.
