So, 24 hours since Threads launched and many here in Fediverse has already preemptively started de-federating Threads.
And anger is also aimed at John Mastodon himself, Eugen Rochko for encouraging Meta to federate Threads. So much anger that some users are calling on instances to Fediblock mastodon.social in retaliation.
If Eugen’s stances are to encourage Threads to federate, he needs to step down as CEO of Mastodon and let someone else take over…..
….. because clearly, this goes against Mastodon’s stance of going against Big Tech, especially Facebook and not be privacy invasive.
Many here joined the Fediverse to escape the big tech, and hate groups and unmoderated free speech. They don’t want to see the Fediverse become a cesspool.
That’s what Eugen promised when he started the Mastodon project. He needs to honor that promise. Otherwise, users will leave.
I joined Mastodon because I felt Blue Bird site under the dictator was going to implode at the time. It’s imploding, and as of July 1, this site is the number 1 focus for my social going forward.
With that being said, I don’t want Mastodon to be filled with big tech nonsense. It’s killing the bird site as of today, and I don’t want the Fediverse to fall victim as well.
