@orionkidder @JuliusGoat The flip side of that is that there are some mindblowingly naive left-wing students who have zero clue about the world.

I remember taking an int'l relations class at a "liberalist of liberal arts" college during the Gulf War, and one student was like "why did we even think Saddam HAD weapons of mass destruction anyway", and I was like "because we kept the fucking receipts from when we sold them to him?"

That sword of naive-bliss cuts across the entire spectrum.

@dballing @orionkidder

I am begging you to notice that the subject of the post is not the blinkered arrogant naiveté of the students, but the validation of it by the adults.

@JuliusGoat @orionkidder And that weaponized proliferation of dumb ideas happens from both left- and right-wing parents/authority-figures.

Is the right-wing "ahead of the curve" on it (so to speak)? Sure, no question. I don't want this to come across as defending right-wing-nutjobbery. But having just been an adult finishing up a PoliSci degree at a LA college, I'm here to tell you that there's some pretty whacked out shit that left-wing parents are reinforcing as well. 😠

@dballing @JuliusGoat @orionkidder you're still missing the point. you're talking about preconceived notions that students arrive with. they're talking about an industry that encourages students to target their professors, disseminate their contact info among right wing circles for harassment and propaganda, etc.
