Biffo3Local newspaper wants to interview me about our free community gallery I curate as caretaker. I’m an introvert,and they’re asking personal info, and worst of all want a picture of me for the article. Declining a photo isn’t rude, is it? I want to focus on the gallery and not me. My much neurodivergent self is ruminating over this and now can’t focus on my daily tasks. #anxiety #neurodivergent #art #freelittleartgallery

@evil_erato Ha! An imposter me! Maybe I can get the local kids to pull the “3 Little Rascals kids stacked in a trench coat “ trick. 😅
@Bapaepke I will pay money to see that article. It's all serious and uplifting, and in the corner is a pic of a lopsided trenchcoat with feet for arms.
@Bapaepke a photo draws people in.... would an acceptable compromise be a photo from the side, with your face in shadow? In the end though it's your decision and yours alone - saying no is perfectly acceptable.
@eithne_s we’re a little rinky-dink village. I’m not sure the photographer will be up for special requests. I’m ok with strangers seeing photos of myself I take myself, online, because I have some control over it. But photos others take of me shown in this community make me uncomfortable. I don’t like standing out here. We’re in a “red county” and I don’t particularly feel safe looking “different “. If that makes any sense. I want the gallery promoted, not me. 💜
@Bapaepke oh well, firm "no" it is! And no, not remotely unreasonable to say so whether neurodivergent or not. In your shoes every time the reporter asks a personal question I'd be gently/firmly saying I wanted the focus to be on the gallery not me, and giving a random gallery fact 😁 Good luck x
Envyj97@Bapaepke I think you'd be well within your rights to request that any photos be purely of the gallery, and I think they'd be happy to respect that!
