Boston DSA is doing a silly thing and I almost care enough to show up and vote against it, but doing so would require me to re-up my lapsed dues and giving more money to the organization would sort of feel icky.

Like, it'd definitely be carpet-bagging, because I basically checked out when they held an entire rally to oppose some pro-housing changes I was proposing in Cambridge.

But it'd be carpet-bagging in an attempt to keep the Boston DSA from making a fool out of itself.

Boston DSA has groups of people doing genuinely useful things. And their leadership appears to be engaging in a campaign of petty vindictiveness which will reflect poorly not just on Boston DSA, but on the entire DSA organization.

Whether I believe in the org or not, letting it eat itself doesn't build the power we need to build a better world.

Sigh.

@crschmidt the statement reads like a petition was brought to expel but no vote has happened?
@klaus yeah, vote will be later this month after the general member meeting.
@crschmidt what am I missing? A group of members wants him expelled and did a petition. Shouldn’t we wait until the vote?

@klaus The things that are concerning me: This vote came from the leadership of the organization, not just "a group of members"; the group that asked to talk with Mike basically came at this with him leaving one way or another as a fait accompli. This indicates fundamental issues with the leadership of the org; even if the vote doesn't pass, that leadership still pursued it.

e.g.If Jeff proposed kicking you out of Somerville YIMBY, even if that proposal failed, it would indicate a real issue.
