<<Auto insurance rant/questions>>
After previously having the understanding that other people driving my car are covered so long as I’m in the car with them, today my auto insurance said that that is not true. If someone else is driving my car with us both in it and there’es…
@Straander "Typically" if you let someone borrow your car, and they got in an accident. If the other driver was at fault, their insurance company should pay for damages. If the driver of your car was at fault, your car insurance will likely cover damages. There are exceptions, such as the condition of the driver at the time of the crash. Exclusions, such as driving while under the influence, still apply. It also does vary by insurer.
@camstonefaux my prior understanding was that you had to be in the car with your friend driving the car to get any coverage.
