@tarrien
The biggest disconnect I've seen is between Mastodon users expecting alt text and artists coming from platforms where those features were rarely used or didn't exist at all.
I feel bad when an artist is wanting to establish themselves on the platform but they're unwilling to take the steps needed to make people want to support them, even after being nudged repeatedly about it.
@KinkyKobolds @tarrien
my personal attempt to mediate is that i reply to such posts with adding some descripional text and espically HASHTAGS in my answer
I think not using them is one of the worst things why artists and potential clients dont find each others here
Of course, the first issue is how to get people to move here at all, i still see actually artists on FA who say "Follow me on Twitter" or even "I have now made a Twitter account" and refuse Mastodon because "noone uses it"
@tarrien I retoot artists a lot. And enjoy their stuff.
But I think that it is important to realize that Mastodon isn't just their free advertising service. I block people who are clearly just using me as free advertising. It seems fine to me to share one's work and mention that it can be purchased and where.

yes plsss
@tarrien im posting this from the "other side" as someone who would be very interested to commission artists making physical artwork, like fursuit or mask makers
I dont find anyone active here, so how to commission them?
Just like with a very recent comment here, amazing custom inflatables but only on Twitter
