#Mastodon is more like a garden than a supermarket. There is no algorithm or points system feeding you a constant stream of content. You have to gradually cultivate a feed by discovering and following individuals and hashtags, pruning what you don't want, and engaging in one-on-one conversions. Free Mastodon tip: you can follow a big general hashtag like #art, then mute styles you are not interested in, like #️⃣furry, to fine-tune your feed.
