@eniko @grumpygamer is it floss?
@elr no, but it will be heavily moddable
@eniko sadly, i only play and pay floss games. if you ever make it like that, let me know so I could buy it
@elr @eniko only play floss? What are your faves?
@grumpygamer I have something that's pixely, but I doubt that it's in a state that people could play.

@grumpygamer I'm working on a story-driven retro racing game for PC/Mac/Linux called "Outer Transmission." Hope to finish it one day.

Follow me for more of this:

@grumpygamer oh, you know I am 😁 The Will of Arthur Flabbington, a pixel art point and click adventure game (soon available on Steam, Gog and Itch)
@gugames @grumpygamer Hey, that's the old font from Lucasfilm Games, isn't it?
@LordCaramac It's actually inspired by the font in old Nokia phones 😄

@devlin Looks great. :) Like an old DOS platform shooter.

A friend of mine did a purposely DOS style game like that in 2013 called 'Muri' which is worth a play if you haven't. :)

@Carnivius I have Muri! It is one of my inspirations for this.
@devlin Cool. :) I helped out on it a bit and one of my past projects was apparently an inspiration for it. :O One I never bloody finished but of course Daniel Remar made Muri in almost no time at all, because unlike me, he's a very competent and efficient game maker. :P
@Carnivius yeah, Dan is amazing at getting stuff done. Ludosity//D R Games are awesome. Love a lot of their work.
@grumpygamer Making Don Salmon, combat platforming adventure about a small bird fighting his way back home
@grumpygamer I'm working on a dos-like roguelike in my free time called Chronicles! It combines classic dungeon crawlers with Into-the-Breach-inspired tactical turn prediction. Devlog on my bio!
@grumpygamer Here's Awakening Sarah, a 2d platform / adventure game where you explore weird dreams!

@yin
Weird dreams reminds me of Figment 😍

@grumpygamer still working on updates for Kevin's Path to Wizdom
@drhackenstein love this CRT effect(?)
@joel thanks!
It was done using Unity's Universal Render Pipeline PostProcessing Effects

@grumpygamer making a large scale isometric tactical strategy game called Cantata!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/690370/Cantata/

Cantata on Steam

Crash-landed in the universe of Cantata, will you expand your empire or bring peace to the war torn planet? Grow your army, manage resources and discover the colourful planet of Shoal, its people, and the armed forces overrunning this land in this genre-defining Grand Tactics game.

@kkukshtel @grumpygamer Love the art and name. Looks like cosmic horror themed?
@cornickj @grumpygamer more Anne leckie / Jeff vandermeer type scifi than cosmic horror, but there’s some sprinkles of that!
@kkukshtel @grumpygamer That looks amazing, edit in that steam link so people can wishlist it.
@Forcen @grumpygamer oops, good idea and thank you!

hey @grumpygamer the game is released into 1.0 as of today - any chance for another boost? 🙂

@grumpygamer Currently making "Ines in: not enough time", a short pixel art point & click adventure game.

We have been working on it for the 2023 Adventure Jam, but we were only able to release a (very) incomplete version. We're working on it and plan to submit the full version soon 😀

@apicici I'm stuck, is there a hint guide? Loving it so far.

@grumpygamer We didn't have time to put one together yet, but I can provide hints of you'd like. I think I know where you're stuck—one particular puzzle was a bit of a design challenge, and even though we went through a couple of iterations I'm still not sure we implemented it in the most clear way.

By the way, we're truly honoured that you tried our game (especially since itss very existence is in large part due to the impact that your games had on our lives 😄).

@grumpygamer Also this is probably a good time to let you know that the whole team loved what you and @thatdave have done with Return to Monkey Island, and that Thimbleweed Park is my second favourite game of all time (and it would probably be the first if I didn't see Monkey 2 through nostalgia-tinted glasses) 🤓

@apicici @grumpygamer

I might have gotten stuck at the same bit. Maybe if it was highlighted a little more that it's walking alerting her?

Also felt like a dialogue option or two would've been great for things that were obvious I need to do, but then couldn't talk to the relevant people about, even if they'd been unhelpful. Made me wonder a while if there was a bug until I figured it out because nothing else worked, that was the only part that felt a little frustrating, otherwise it was great!

@apicici @grumpygamer Very cool game, but I'm also completely stuck, a hint would be nice :)

@apicici I can’t wait to try this! After seeing @grumpygamer on here and remembering how much I loved all his games I want to try and do what you’ve done here and make my own point and click adventure.

How did you get started?

@mclazarus @grumpygamer I participated in a game jam a few years ago and made an (unreleased) adventure game prototype using AGS (it was a 3-day jam, so I had to use something already set up for the genre).

After the jam ended I decided to make my own engine, using LÖVE as the underlying framework. After a couple of years of working on and off on the engine I teamed up with two friends to make a game for last year's LÖVE jam—the first game of the series.

@mclazarus @grumpygamer we really enjoyed the experience, and we decided to keep going! Future plans involve rewriting the engine from scratch in C++, and making a full-size game.
@apicici thanks! And good luck with your plans! Is there a reason you chose Löve over things like Unity? Just because it was free and open?
@mclazarus I tried to use unity at the first game jam but it was just too bloated for what I wanted to do. AGS is nice, but I wanted more freedom to code the way I wanted. I decided to go with LÖVE because it provides just the basics, and allowed me to shape the engine in the direction I wanted. It did take me a looong time to program the pathfinding algorithm, though!
@apicici thanks for sharing all that!

@mclazarus you're welcome!

On a related note, should you want to use LÖVE as well, I released my pathfinding library publicly here: https://github.com/apicici/pathfun

@apicici @grumpygamer I screencapped the moment when I realised that yes, this was a game for me.
