One of the biggest challenges in analysing art #provenance data using #knowledge #graphs is to present the #patterns and connections in a way that can be easily read and understood.

The goal is to produce useful, ACTIONABLE data #visualizations.

How to find the sweet spot between too much and too little information?

In this image, we see a few of the #Picasso artworks whose provenance omitted persecuted #Jewish collectors - along with their authors.

Omitting (or accidentally misspelling) the name of the persecuted Jewish collector is only one of the error patterns that can be detected, tracked and analysed over time and across multiple publications.

Other common errors in the #provenance texts of Holocaust-linked #artworks include inserting names that are (in reality) unconnected to the artwork and falsifying the dates of sale to place transfers before the Nazi era so as not to set off red flags.
