What's the biggest reason people are reluctant to drop Twitter?
@GeorgeStyles Sex workers and their clients are trapped there as the other platforms won't take them
Sunk costs. People have built up connections with accounts they find interesting. Also latency. Change requires effort.
@GeorgeStyles starting over is not easy. It's fear of the unknown even though it's just changing a communication format.
@GeorgeStyles Connections made. Records of articles and papers.
@GeorgeStyles 1 existing friends, 2 desire to follow certain people's replies, 3 difficulty of setting up & migrating material, 4 learning things all over again, 5 realizing it's sparsely populated.
@GeorgeStyles Lots of online friends, and good conversation has been part of my life with you and the George gang for quite a while. But here I am and we can get past Twitter. Hopefully the others will follow. There are a lot of social media options right now so let’s see how Macedon does. At least we’re not dealing with an egotistical madman.
@GeorgeStyles I mentioned elsewhere that I still have some social interactions there that are not on other platforms
@GeorgeStyles change….
I am here, but i am not sure if it is working.
Testing, testing….
@GeorgeStyles originally easy access to news from Journos directly and many other benefits - but that's all changed now. It's become a dumpster fire over there
