@Em0nM4stodon @feditips Needing four separate guides for new people to start being able to use Mastodon … maybe if this place was a bit easier to use it would become the new Twitter. Until it’s simplified, it just won’t be.

This place isn't as complicated as it first seems, it just works a bit differently. I've done a non-technical guide at https://fedi.tips

There is some additional stuff to learn, but there are good reasons for that additional stuff existing.

This place is spread out on many servers to prevent the scenario we're now seeing happen with Musk's destruction of Twitter. By being on many servers, it means people have options if things go wrong.

It is not as complicated as it seems.

You already use very similar networks when you make a phone call or send an email.

Choosing a server is like choosing an email provider or phone network operator.

On the Toot! app on iPhone/iPad?

You can find the search box by going to the Home or Notifications tab, then clicking ⋯ and then Search.

It is weirdly hidden on that particular app, you're not the only one who had problems finding it!
