Reminder:

#Russia, unlike #Germany, has never apologized for starting World War II (and many genocides in Europe and Asia)

They didn't even outlaw the promotion of #Stalinism & #communism ! which caused (numerically) the largest number of deaths in the entire 20th century.

Until 🇷🇺 comes to terms with its dark past, it cannot be part of the civilized world. Now, on the contrary, it seems that the dark past is repeating itself.

@insights stalin was no communist in any meaningful sense of the word. To the contrary no one killed more communists than him. please don't confuse authoritarian communists or bolchewists with communism as a whole. There are many flavours of communism which are totaly fine.

@benni

Of course, there is a difference between (original) communist ideology and communist practice in the USSR and other totalitarian countries. Of course, that Stalin considered himself a communist;

But since all dictatorships led by communist parties ended in some form of dictatorship (USSR, China, Albania,East Germany,Cuba...)

I allow myself to use the word "communism" in the sense of the establishment of communist governments in the 20th century; where it was always about totalities.

@benni

PS: Communism in the sense of a philosophical ideal can only be used by philosophers.

I am talking about the political reality and the historical reality of communist governments.

@insights there was never a communist government. there where governments from people who called themself communists. and communism was never a philosophy, it was always a very diverse political movement.

@benni

Yes,we were told that the communist parties will lead to "true communism"one day.

But nowhere did "communist ideals"develop into anything good.

The communist parties in central/east.Europe and everywhere they ruled presented "socialism leading to communism under the leadership of the communist parties".
The result everywhere?-various forms of Bolshevik dictatorships,totalitarian political systems and hybrid dictatorships.

Hardly anyone will want to say "give communism a 2nd chance"

@insights for me the "communist ideals" take place everywhere, where there are no other reasons for human actions than needs and abilities of humans. this happens all around us every day. i am pretty sure you did a "communist ideal" today.

(you don't need to argue with me about leninism and their sibblings, i know this was the wrong way to achieve these ideals)

@benni @insights banning any opposition that Lenin did what exactly what was wrong. He even banned Leftwing Socialist Revolutionaire party. Eventually the absolute power corrupts absolutely. And Baath instead of making the life of Arabs better resort to first making like of Arabs in Khuzistan better. And send Shia Arabs to gulags if they disagree that war on Iran is bad idea. Eventually Saddam uses sarin against Muslims, that's haram! So those good ideas of socialism end up in a nazi dictatorship and war criminal regime
@insights but than you do exactly what they did. you are playing there game. you destroy any other form of communism. there are plenty of them, still today.
@insights lol wut. So much wrong there.
