If you’re a #ProtonMail user residing in the United States, then make sure to opt-out of the new arbitration provisions.

If you don’t opt-out, you can still turn to Swiss courts, but you would have to go through arbitration for any disputes brought and found to have jurisdiction in the US.

Opt-out through written notice to their Swiss address below within 30 days.

I've been reading these terms and the discussion on r/ProtonMail regarding the changes in #ProtonMail terms of service.

I generally don't think arbitration is a good thing for consumers. But maybe when dealing with a Swiss company, it isn't a big deal.

Do any lawyers here care to share their interpretation of the arbitration language?

I think I ended up more confused after reading that. I still think opting out is the best option.
