People love to anthropomorphize everything, like grossly misinterpreting the principles of evolution (animals consciously "evolving") to seeing anything resembling intelligence in current A"I".
Paganini may not have authorized Rachmaninov to use his 24th Caprice, but at least Rachmaninov was a legitimate composer. Any AI "music" I've heard is bland and toneless with ridiculous harmonic and melodic deviations.
Wonderful connection there to Borges!!
"Put another way, ChatGPT seems so human because it was trained by an AI that was mimicking humans who were rating an AI that was mimicking humans who were pretending to be a better version of an AI that was trained on human writing."

@aparrish when I still worked on an NLP search system I would constantly have to explain to customers that the computer doesn’t know shit. (Also that our grading tool was just a reference for the person building the rules, not a machine learning system)
Always deeply frustrating that users assume “no results” means the search is bad and not “search has accurately determined there is no match in the available content”.
Apparently people prefer hallucinations.
