Does anyone else have a tavern or other like space in their head where they sometimes listen to the character's they play talk about things?

..or is this a tangential quirk to the 'virtual' workshop in my mind that works on iterations of things I create?

Because one of my characters did something unexpected when I was listening to her talk about a panic attack she had in a tavern last session.

And I kinda wonder if anyone else has been surprised by their characters

@Skovheks Don't have that sort of mind palace for my characters, but I have been surprised by my characters. Most recent example is my Wildfire Druid, who's generally a very peaceful and quiet character, but turns out has anger management issue. Didn't see that coming until something happened to her and it just made sense for her to burn everything in the vicinity and hurt herself and others in the process.

@mewyn

I was listening to my druid talk why the panic attack sent her literally crawling up the walls try to find an egress (the doors locked & it was a mandatory trivia+ brawl situation)

"I wasn't always big and strong..."

& instead of flexing to show biceps, she brought both arms up in a boxer's block before continuing

& it caught me off guard that her fundamental view of strength is rooted in being able to defend ones self rather than ability to counter attack.

@mewyn

Which made perfect sense when she went on to explain that the doors suddenly locking & being trapped in the tavern for the entertainment primarily for others made her hard flashback to being a helpless kid being forced to fight her siblings (& worse) in an illegal fighting pit.

@Skovheks "listening to your own character talk" is a very good way of putting it, feels very familiar indeed!
