If the past few years have taught us anything, it's that:

1) Poverty is a policy choice.
2) Workers keep America going, not billionaires.
3) Corporate profits don't trickle down.
4) Health care is a human right.

The time to act on these issues is now.

@rbreich also something about guns
@rbreich im convinced the last piece of the puzzle, is getting middle management, to accept they are working class. The strivers and the team leads chasing 150k think they are on the up and up. But they remain workers, exploited by capital.

@doublejay @rbreich

We need to convince the Petit Bourgeoisie that the Bourgeoisie do not have their best interests at heart. If that's even possible.

@rbreich 5) A publicly-funded, high quality education, independent of political influence, is not only a human right, but an imperative for a healthy, functioning republic.
@rbreich poverty is a product of a capitalist hierarchy, that cannot be reformed, regulated, or humanized. Call it what it is, how it’s operated; withholding food, housing, medical care, and education producing the poor. That’s how capitalism rolls. End it, end poverty.
@rbreich It was fun realizing a few years ago that I can’t, by definition, be a capitalist because I don’t have capital. 401Ks are interesting, because they make workers who do not have capital care about the stock market.

@rbreich

I think money does trickle down like water, but in economics the poor live up in the dry hills, and the rich and powerful have walled off the lake and rivers and oceans for their exclusive use.
Just like a healthy ecosystem, a healthy economy needs lots of water from the oceans to rain down on the hills, and then needs a thousand wetlands and small ponds and lakes to hold the water.

@rbreich Trickle down economics is a trick.
@rbreich seems #Macron s meeting goes into that direction
@rbreich #healthcare should not be bankruptcy roulette, but it is.

@rbreich
Homelessness, gun violence, and war are also policy choices made by our political leaders.

We need better leaders.

@nutriamix @rbreich does it matter how good they are if they're all for sale to the highest bidder/lobbyist?
@rbreich what about education tho? I think if we start to educate more than keeping ignorants we might just help healthcare a whole lot more
@rbreich Mister Reich, what on earth is going on in the USA? Thousands of books are banned from schools. Apparently by religious, rightwing extremists. Will we see public burning of books? Teachers are facing imprisonment. The Handmaid Tales for real? Good heavens, what generation will have to become mature under such circumstances?
@rbreich All of this,but especially #1. Lack is just a dream scenario for the greedy

@rbreich Suggested edit: Workers, not billionaires, keep America going.
