I find it extremely naive that people think that they matter for those tech giants: they just don't. Nothing new, no surprises here.

That's one of the many reasons why the Fediverse, including #Mastodon, #Pixelfed, #Jemmy, #kbin ... need to be promoted as often as possible.

They don't offer exactly the same experience as their commercial counterparts, but they have every potential to get better.
