The recent #reddit drama shows perfectly how platforms exploit their users. #redditblackout failed, the company stated that they won't budge. In answer interested redditors claim to continue protest indefinitely or moving to a #fediverse alternatives.

It is a word by word retelling of Twitter drama. Users, the powerhouse of the platform protest, but lack the power and devices to do effectively. So they are moving to mastodon. A big loose for Twitter? For a month or two yea.

@PiTau0 The truth is somewhere between. While I talked to some guys who were overly optimistic, saying reddit is dead, experience tells us otherwise. But your take is overly pessimistic. Sure, some people went back to twitter, but also some people stayed here on mastodon. With each fuckup of the established social media sites there is a new influx of people in the fediverse. With each wave it gets more known, gets more users and hosters and developers. The battle is not over yet.
@averagejoe @PiTau0 At the end of the day life isn't so black and white..Reddit and Twitter aren't going anywhere but it will bring a lot of people to fediverse platforms where before it would have never happened.
@calciume @averagejoe And that's the good thing. Fediverse might be on the verge of general popularity and I love the prospect. Maybe seeing that a different way is possible, will spark enough of political will to change the state of the internet.
