Hi guys! We've officially hit 20 members! Not bad for a community that didn't exist three days ago.

I (@paradoxmo) want to really thank you all for being awesome pen people, especially for the #Reddit refugees who braved a platform they didn't know to come here.

Just a preview here of what we're planning:

1. Question of the day threads for probably at least the first month
2. Weekly newbie threads
3. Weekly topics/prompts for photos/pics/art

@penfount @paradoxmo oh wow! I’ve just started playing around on Mastadon and am using the IceCubes client app. All working well. Seems to be lots to learn about Mastadon and it’ll take a bit to get comfortable, but is fairly intuitive. I do think this is the best alternative to Reddit so far. Thanks for making this!

I'm still looking around for an alternative to Reddit, in case it all comes to an indefinite blackout or a deep change in r/fountainpens. My first conclusion is that Discord is not the alternative. It brings back memories of the worst of IRC but with eyesoring colours. For now, this is looking like a nice platform. Thank you for your effort.

@Suspect_Similar @MonochromatticAttic it’s exactly because Discord isn’t an alternative, and neither are web forums like FPN and FPGeeks, that I looked for an alternate solution. I rejected Lemmy and kbin for being too immature, and Mastodon has so far worked out pretty well I think!
