GNOME users, I have some questions for you! This won’t single-handedly drive the design of GNOME (I’m not that influential… yet 😉 ), but anecdata is always nice to help unstick design discussions or just gather insights.

(Polls will follow posts as I can’t share an image and a poll, sadly.)

If you use GNOME, do you use the “Recent” view in the Files app? Note this is NOT the same as the file chooser, e.g. when opening a file in an app.

@cassidy My answer is actually “Never”, so not sure I should vote “Occasionally”? To be honest, it does not even appear in my sidebar? So I might have removed it some way or another at some point.
@nclm I accidentally misfired and posted before writing all the options, lol. I've edited it.

@cassidy Ah thanks! I voted “Never”.

Now I realise it’s not there because I have ”File history” turned off. I wonder if I would use it if I had it turned on, but I know that on macOS at work I never use this, and I use much more files there.

I guess I don’t think of files in terms of recentness, but in terms of where they are located. And maybe as well in which apps I used them in (so I expect ”recent files” in apps themselves I think). But “recent files” in general, it does not cross my mind.

@nclm thanks for the detailed thoughts, I love this sort of feedback!
