My only comment for today about #Trump being charged in federal court is this:
If there is any doubt that we have two legal systems in this country (one for rich people and one for poor people), what happened today is exhibit A to prove my point.

If he were a poor person or a non-famous person, he would be in jail right now, being held without bail. Instead, he is being allowed to continue to be effectively a free man.

I keep thinking about #RealityWinner and #ChelseaManning. 2 heroic #whistleblowers who also leaked #classified documents, but for noble reasons. Neither of them got released on bail or OR while they awaited trial.

So why is Trump not in jail? He is an obvious flight risk (after all, he owns his own private plane!) and there is an ongoing risk that he will continue to leak classified information (even if he doesn't still have the paper documents).

So the moral of the story is that if you want to break laws with impunity, you better be rich or a politician.

@jmb I've often wondered if that's why so many folks want to get rich: The immunity.
@jmb nothing we didn't already know.
@jmb isn't he being constantly watched by the secret service?
@jmb Two thoughts:
The earlier in the process they jail him, the more likely his supporters will go violent again.
If CIA etc are doing their jobs well, they'll have him wire-tapped, bugged and infiltrated such that they'll get more info than he gives away if he's trying to do deals. (And there might be constraints legal and practical on that if he's jailed).
I don't know enough, just speculating on possible necessary compromises.
