Suicide Hotlines Promise Anonymity. Dozens of Their Websites Send Sensitive Data to Facebook – The Markup

The Markup found many sites tied to the national mental health crisis hotline transmitted information on visitors through the Meta Pixel

@themarkup @jonkeegan @STAT This hotline has been terrible since its launch. Armed cops responding to mental health calls, amateur and incompetent advice from hotline staff, etc.

WHEN are we going to learn that involving the government in mental health care almost NEVER goes well unless your government is Actually trying to support mental health? Our government regularly demonstrates that the mental health of its citizens is Not a priority. That's doubled for every marginalization.

@themarkup @jonkeegan @STAT Autistic Overexplainer(tm) Moment: I DO believe in govt-Funded healthcare. What I object strongly to is govt-Directed healthcare. History shows that when on-the-ground medical staff run the operation, it benefits patients. People like politicians, or heaven forefend, businessmen, are terrible managers of healthcare.
