@JRBuckley Many Germans back then actually supported Nazi policy for their own gain. Say, if you were a member of their party (NSDAP) you had access to more and better food, coal for heating and cooking, better flats and houses due to the expropriation of Jews, better jobs and so forth. But even without being a member, they profited from Nazi policy, employment and materially-wise.
@Catonauts @JRBuckley History repeats itself. Present supporters of far right are not all Nazis by definition, but folks who have something to loose in change, so they rather vote Nazi then being forced to replace oil stoves the next three decades… 🤮

@Saupreiss @Catonauts @JRBuckley

Ugh. As someone who has had to clean both gas and electric stoves, you can keep gas. Too many crevices for burnt-on sauces.

@VHasch

He meant oil-fired heating systems.

@Saupreiss @JRBuckley
@JRBuckley Do you honestly think that those who didn’t ignore it and were murdered because of that weren’t German?
If so I guess Adolf won the War in your head…
@peterdaeubler
I lived in Germany from 1985 to 1997. Many of my friends grand-/parents were eyewitnesses to the atrocities of WWII and I spoke with everyone who would talk about it with me. I heard something like this from many of them - but they were talking about ignoring the Nazis during the period before Hitler actually came to power. Just like some people on the Left are saying we should just ignore Trump/MAGA now in the hopes that they'll all just "go away."
@JRBuckley Don’t be evasive.
At least try to learn from the past - so don’t generalise.

@peterdaeubler @JRBuckley
Good point.

Fazit:
Fighting them in a time you don’t get murdered for it by the government is much more desirable then fighting them later.
So now is the time.

@zyklop @JRBuckley Of course.

The main point that greatly angers me is that this guy ignores those Germans who resisted fascism and were murdered for it.
He cannot even admit his mistake…

@JRBuckley Good use of that color scheme.
@JRBuckley We call that the UFO-theory: a flying saucer landed in Berlin on 1/30 1933 and some dozen aliens in Nazi uniforms checked out. Since nobody did really care, they succeded in taking over Germany within a few days. Nobody knew what they planned, no majority voted them in, no political elite put them in place, the capitalists did not support them. Bummer!
