with #reddit exodus, people should know these numbers :

#lemmy : 141 developpers/contributors and written in mainstream 'rust' language
https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy

#kbin : no contributors, written in PHP ( not the most popular language)
https://github.com/ernestwisniewski/kbin

I don't know why there is so much 'hype' on #kbin

I think the lemmy developper have  made an error and should not mix coding and politics, but in terms of developement, lemmy has a better structure

@sudokill For me it's the UX and transparency of @ernest
@sudokill I'm not familiar lemmy's political issues. I like the federated nature of lemmy, but that may be in kbin too because I'm just not as familiar with it. I've thought about firing up a lemmy instance to compliment Fosstodon, but I just don't have the time to do it.
@mike @sudokill The development of Lemmy as well as the flagship instances are largely run by Marxist-Leninists who supporting authoritarian countries and have a track record of denying genocide and other atrocities, among other things.

I still think the software can be separated from the developer, and Lemmy seems like a better established platform than kbin, but some other people are against Lemmy for the reasons above. I'm of the belief that the best thing to do in this situation is to just spin up your own instance or find one that doesn't federate with the problematic instances, and maybe fork it if the way it's managed becomes too much of a problem.
@sudokill for me - I liked that kbin had solid support for both microblogging AND link aggregation

@sudokill

There are 2 coders, not 1, right?
1️⃣ #dessalines
2️⃣ #Nutomic

Also Dessalines on #GitHub is taking care of the #financial stuff, the #Patreon.

patreon.com/dessalines and #LiberaPay.

I’ve only gone foot deep into both, but the UI of Kbin felt much more familiar to me.
